The extreme weather that hit Islip Wednesday morning has caused damage across the area. Fortunately, the damage to the schools is less than expected. A number of our high school students were scheduled to take Regents exams on Wednesday but were unable to get in due to the flooding on the local streets. They may take the exam either in January or next June. For those who could make it, several of our teachers who live local, came in to help proctor the exams. We continued with the exams as only New York State Department of Education may change the date of these statewide exams. We are reaching out to NYS to request a re-take date.
