Musicians Are Tops in State

Islip High School and its Office of Fine and Performing Arts are proud to announce the selection of four students for state-level honors in music. The student-musicians were selected for the New York State School Music Association All-State Festival based upon their performances at last year’s NYSSMA Solo Festival. They will prepare for the festival with choral director Dr. Rich Harris Jr. and band director Steve Campanella. The eight All-State ensembles, which are directed by renowned guest conductors, will perform in one of three concerts at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester on Dec. 6 and 7 during the annual NYSSMA Winter Conference.

Participating students from Islip High School include:
All-State Mixed Choir (prepared by Dr. Rich Harris Jr.)
Larry Saperstein, Tenor

All-State Vocal Jazz (prepared by Dr. Rich Harris Jr.)
Nick Fanizzi, Bass

All-State Symphonic Band (prepared by Steve Campanella)
Ethan Fields, French Horn
Kristen Warnokowski, Trumpet

In addition to being selected for symphonic band, Ethan Fields was selected for the mixed choir and as an alternate for the jazz choir. Larry Saperstein was also chosen as an alternate for the jazz choir.
