CARE Club Congratulations

Topping last year’s effort by three boxes, the middle school’s CARE Club completed their annual three-week food drive by collecting 45 boxes of food that were donated to the United Methodist Church food pantry in Islip.

CARE Club, a service club formerly known as the Builder’s Club, includes approximately 18 altruistic students from the sixth, seventh and eighth grades. The group, whose mission is to help the community through collections and fundraising, chose its current name to reflect the attributes of compassion, attitude, respect and empathy.

Next on the horizon for the club’s middle schoolers will be a Pennies for Patients drive in March and a collection for the Islip Animal Shelter in April, according to adviser Mary Caroll.
