Students at Commack Road have already made 400 bookmarks for charity as part of the global Literacy Challenge. Students Rebuild, Save the Children and Global Nomads Group have asked schools to join with them to improve reading and writing skills of youth around the world by joining this challenge and creating bookmarks. For each bookmark mailed in, the Bezos Family Foundation will donate $1 to Save the Children’s Literacy Boost program in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

“What a fun and worthwhile project this was to create during indoor recess on these frigid winter days,” said ESL teacher Pamela Kornhauser. “Our students are proud to be able to help provide young people all over the world with the resources to become successful life-long learners.”
