High school senior Nick Lange has been promoted to the rank of chief petty officer by the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. He will be honored by the Navy-based organization, which educates youth about the nation’s seagoing military services, at a promotion ceremony at the Long Island Maritime Museum in West Sayville on June 21.

A three-sport athlete in football, bowling and golf, Lange will be attending his dream school, Clemson University in South Carolina, this fall on an ROTC scholarship.

“Nick is the true embodiment of a student-athlete, said Principal Michael Mosca. “This young man has tremendous pride in his school and in his country. He’s earned the respect of his teachers and peers, and I am not surprised that he has been awarded such a prestigious distinction. We couldn’t be happier for him and his family.”
