Angelo Magoulas, a Boy Scout and senior at Islip High School, was honored with Eagle Scout recognition at a May 21 ceremony held at Wing Elementary. His Eagle Scout certificate was presented by Superintendent of Schools Susan Schnebel.

Magoulas earned his achievement through a project in which the young man converted the food pantry at his church, St. Peter the Apostle in Islip Terrace, raising funds last summer through a car wash and bottle and can recycling drive.

“It’s a really big honor and I’m proud that I did it,” said Magoulas, a member of the Bucs varsity football team. He will study business at Farmingdale College this fall and plans to go on to obtain a master’s degree in business.
