PEAK Participation at CRES

Eight music students from Commack Road attended this year’s Parents, Educators, and Kids festival. Hosted by the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association, the annual festival for fourth-grade general music students provides the young musicians with a chance to shine, experience high-level musicianship and interact with other talented musicians prior to the All-County ensemble experiences of fifth through twelfth grade.

“The PEAK festival is all about talented fourth-graders learning and experiencing music in addition to performing,” said teacher Michael Baur. “The students attend morning workshops led by master clinicians in areas of music that may be new or different to the students, or areas that simply allow students to explore musical activities more in depth than they would normally be able to within their regular music classes.”

This year, the Commack Road enjoyed workshops that explored folk dance, boomwhackers percussion tubes, ukulele, recorder, chorus, singing games and musical theater.
