Through Jan. 29, the high school’s Keep Islip Clean Club is collecting new or used holiday and birthday greeting cards to be donated to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. Drop-off bins are located at the main office of Islip High School and in teacher Wayne Mennecke’s classroom (Room 116).
Card covers without personal greetings on the back side of the front cover are rebound to a new back and sold by the Ranch, with the resulting funds going to support programs and services for abused, neglected and homeless children, young adults and families.
The card recycling project is being led by KIC Club’s junior commissioners, who meet monthly with KIC coordinator Nancy Cochran and junior commissioners from other local high schools across the Town of Islip.
