Kindergartners at Wing celebrated the 100th day of school on Feb. 26 by collecting cans of food to benefit Long Island Cares, then counting and lining them up in the school hallway. The cans are saved and donated during Wing’s March food drive.

“Collecting the cans for Long Island Cares has been a tradition at Wing for many years,” said teacher Valerie Cordara. “It is our goal every year to collect at least 100 cans of food by the 100th day, and this year we collected  and counted 181 cans. The lessons in math, combined with the lessons of caring and giving, make this a truly special activity for our young learners.”
