Seven standout senior athletes at the high school signed National Letters of Intent on April 13, confirming their commitment to play for colleges in the fall.

Caleigh DeCaprio will play basketball for Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson; Gabriella Fernandes will play volleyball at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry; Junger Herazo will play soccer for Wells College in upstate Aurora; Kristin Maratta will play softball at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts; Ryan Smith will play football for SUNY Cortland; Michael St. Lewis will play football for Hartwick College in Oneonta; and Ilya Wilson will run track at Suffolk Community College. The students were honored by coaches, parents and district administrators in a signing ceremony in the high school library.

“The Islip School District is extremely proud of these student-athletes who have achieved at the highest level,” said Islip Athletic Director Bob Panariello. “Their dedication and commitment has been recognized by their coaches and peers and has provided them an opportunity to continue their collegiate careers.”
