A Message from the Superintendent of Schools
Dear Residents,
Thank you for your support in passing the 2016-2017 budget. The district was presented with significant challenges when crafting the proposed budget this year, being faced with an unprecedented negative tax levy cap. The 61 percent pass rate reflects the confidence that the community has in our district.
Your approval will allow us to continue important programs in our schools and will enable us to maintain our current class size policy. It also provides for our new REACH program, which will allow students to remain in their home district at a more cost-effective expense than out-of-district placements.
We wish to congratulate Matthew Clareen and Danielle Flora, who were each elected to a three-year term on the Board of Education, and thank them in advance for their service. We would also like to thank our incumbent Board members Russell Dietz and Catherine Romano, who have shown an extraordinary dedication to our community and our children during their years of service.
On behalf of the entire Islip Schools family, we appreciate your support. We are pleased to be part of a community that works together for the benefit of our most precious resource – the children of our district. We look forward to a successful and productive 2016-2017 school year.
