Business-minded high school students sharpened their entrepreneurial and retail skills on the third weekend of October at the Islip Fire Department’s Main Street Autumn Festival. Student interns from the IBuc Shop, along with members of the school’s Junior Chamber of Commerce Club and Bucs football team, spent the day selling Islip spirit wear to community members.
“These students volunteered their day to obtain real-world business ownership experience by setting up the booth and merchandise, making transactions with the customers, then breaking it all down to go back to the school,” said business teacher Renee Clock, who admired the students’ dedication to promoting pride within the community. “I have an ambitious group of future entrepreneurs that seek opportunities like this to develop their skills. The students did a fantastic job today.”
