On Friday, November 19th, the Commack Road Elementary School in Islip once again honored America’s troops along with local families in need during their Night of Giving. The event was a culmination of the school’s food drive and treats for troops collection, which takes leftover Halloween candy and donates it to troops serving overseas. Parent and student volunteers prepared 20 baskets of food for donation to CRES families in need during the Thanksgiving holiday, as well as packed bags of Halloween candy. Additionally, the students wrote letters and drew pictures of encouragement to include in the packages for the servicemen and women.
