Recognized for Service

Jonathan Herr, a student at Islip High School, received the 2010 County Executive Public Service Award and was presented a Certificate of Appreciation from Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy. Jonathan is a member of the Boys Scouts and is currently towards Eagle – the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America – by building a bench and kiosk for his local church and donating funds for the soup kitchen. Additionally, he raised more than $300 for the Saint Baldrick’s Foundation by shaving his head. The Foundation raises money for childhood cancer research primarily through head-shaving events. Pictured with Jonathan is Islip High School Principal Dr. Eileen Rossman.
