Thirty-Nine Islip Student-Musicians Selected for All-County

Thirty-nine student-musicians from the Islip School District have been selected to participate in the Suffolk County Music Educator’s Association (SCMEA) All-County Festival. The festival, which is divided into three divisions, will be held this March and incorporates students in grades 5-10.

The students selected represent the best from across Suffolk County and were chosen based on their New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) scores, as well as teacher recommendations.

"All-County Festivals are often the turning point in the life of a young musician,” stated Vincent Green, Coordinator of Fine and Performing Arts. “To be surrounded by so many extraordinary musicians and performing in front of an audience of a thousand... that can be a life-changing experience. Knowing that 39 of our students may become the musicians and music educators of tomorrow as a result of this event is a tribute not only to their hard work but the outstanding support of the entire Islip Schools community."
