Holiday Sing-Along

On Friday, December 4, Islip High School was the scene of a yearly tradition of music, desserts, and fun. The Holiday Sing-Along, which is a fundraiser for the Islip Friends of the Arts, has been in existence for more than 10 years. This year, those in attendance were led in song by the Islip High School Swing Choir, conducted by Allison Jeanes, and the Middle School Show Choir, directed by Rich Magale.

Specifically tailored as a Holiday Treat for families with younger children, there was an arts and crafts table and the ever popular visit from Santa Claus. Student volunteer “elves” helped the children create several craft projects to bring home. District art teachers Lorraine Knoblauch, Melissa Trocchio-Cohen, Elizabeth Heaton and Bethany Fisher were on hand with several art students to do face painting.

“It is the Islip Community that enables us to raise funds to then present awards and scholarships to deserving Islip students in grades 4 through 12 each year,” said President Barbara Engels.
