Musicianship and Dedication Honored
Four students from Islip Middle School - Taryn Denis (Flute), Kristen Freriks (Clarinet), Kristen Warnokowski (Trumpet) and Ethan Fields (French Horn) – were chosen by Middle School Band Director Allison Jeanes for their outstanding musicianship and dedication to participate in the Hofstra University Middle School Honors Band Festival.
On October 23, 290 seventh graders from across Long Island will join the 110 players of the Hofstra University Symphonic Band and take the stage of the Hofstra University Arena for the Hofstra University Middle School Honors Band Festival. The performance will feature the work of world-renowned composer and guest conductor Robert W. Smith, one of the most-performed composers of band music in the world today.
This event is designed to enhance the education and development of young band performers, while at the same time rewarding their past accomplishments. The final concert of the festival will be held at the Hofstra University Arena on Friday, October 23rd at 8pm. The concert is open to the public and free of charge.
