Islip Pride Shines at Homecoming

Mother Nature’s frigid temperatures couldn’t put a damper on Homecoming 2009. School spirit and community pride were at an all-time high with crowds of students, parents, alumni and residents coming together to show their Islip Pride.

Community residents lined Main Street and cheered as the Homecoming Parade passed through town, featuring handmade floats designed by students, showcasing their class spirit and creativity. High School students in each grade level aimed to outdo their competition for best float.

The excitement continued as the stands overlooking the football field were filled with fans eager to cheer on their Buccaneers. They were not to be disappointed. The Rocky Point Eagles proved to be no match for the hometown Bucs. As the crowd, wearing their Islip colors, kept the energy level high, the Bucs were the first to score and ended the game victorious over the Eagles with a final score of 42-14.

The action-packed first and second quarters led to halftime festivities that included exciting performances by the marching band, varsity cheerleaders and kickline. Billy Lackner and Gia Ianaconi were crowned 2009 Homecoming King and Queen, respectively. Homecoming 2009 was a day to remember, marked by fun and festivities and a strong sense of community pride.
